I tell all my clients how important building your personal brand is. It differentiates you, frees you from imposter syndrome and elevates your mindset around your work.
So after 3 years in the “biz”, I thought it was time to really take my company to the next level with a complete overhaul to my brand and website.
I am SO excited to share it with you!
It was so fun to define who I wanted to be in this next stage of my business, what I wanted to offer to my readers and clients and how I personally wanted to show up in my work.
Here are my top three takeaways from the rebrand and relaunch of my website:
#1. Find a designer who gets you
I had done a lot of research on branding specialists and website designers and quite frankly, it was really hard to find someone who could do both really well.
And then I met Elizabeth.
The angels came down from the heavens, the birds started chirping and my cup runneth over.
Okay, not really. But she is the cat’s pajamas and a total rockstar at what she does. She made the process easy, fun and SEAMLESS. I learned so much about client experience and systems and tools that alone should’ve been a separate service. She got to understand who I was, what I wanted to convey and who my target market was. Elizabeth’s ability to take my words and turn it into this beautiful visual interpretation is beyond what I could’ve dreamed up myself. She was attentive, organized (more organized than me) and educational.
Okay, end gushing. Needless to say, if you’re thinking about doing a rebrand, make sure your designer gets you. And if you are looking for a top notch designer, I would highly recommend Elizabeth.
#2. Investing in my rebrand majorly boosted my confidence
I loved my old website. I created it myself in Squarespace and it did me well for the first couple of years in business.
But there is something about putting your money where your mouth is that forces you to “go pro”. And investing in my personal brand did just that.
Looking at my website now - the home to my business - I am so proud of what I’ve built and how I’m poised to build for the future.
I don’t feel guilty for my prices. I feel positioned as a leader. I know that it will help me attract my ideal client...versus trying to track them down.
As I tell my career coaching clients, when you’re proud of what you’ve accomplished, it just oozes out of you. Which in turn, allows you to accelerate in our career and life.
“Going pro” was already the best thing I could’ve done for my personal psyche and professional trajectory.
#3. Get ready to write. A lot.
I think I underestimated just how much writing needed to get done to fill out a whole website. With that, I’ve been a content FEEN over the past couple of months - making sure my messaging was really targeting my ideal clients.
If I were to do it again, I probably would’ve hired a copywriter to carry the load and honestly may look into hiring someone in the future.
Knowing that now, I wouldn’t have let my procrastination gene get in the way and planned much more in advance. Any hiccups we had along the way with the website launch process was around me not getting the things I needed to get done...well, done.
Also, here are a couple parts of the website you need to check out STAT:
- My resource page is JAM-packed with freebies, ideas, and discount codes.
- You can get a sneak peek of the courses coming your way Fall 2018, here.
- I have a brand-spanking new VIP service you HAVE to check out if you’re looking to expedite your search!
- Don’t forget, friend. I have a SHOP now. Woot Woot! Over the coming year there are going to be a lot more products there to serve all your career needs. (Have product ideas for me? I’d love hear them!)
Finally, thanks so much for all your support over the past three years. I’m excited to serve you in bigger ways. My hope is that when you come to my lil corner of the interwebs, you feel encouraged, empowered and equipped to go after every.single.one. of your dreams!
