The questions I get asked most often are about resumes – What do I do with them? How do I write one without gauging my eyes out? How do I make sure I have enough keywords to get past those applicant bots?!

Can I get an AMEN that resumes are really frustrating?

On today’s episode, I’m teaching you how to write a killer resume in 48 hours! With no eyes gauged out in the process...

What we’re talking about today:

  • Mental barriers holding you back from finishing your resume
  • Step-by-step methodology to writing a killer resume

MENTAL BARRIERS

  • Procrastination
  • Worried you don’t think you’re good enough
  • Put too much or not nearly enough
  • Overwhelmed and so never start
  • Don’t keep up with your work wins

Step One: Get a Good Template

  • Why does a good template matter?

Step Two: Gather some Job Descriptions

  • Before you even start working on your resume…
  • Highlight keywords
  • What is the main idea?
  • What type of ROI?

Step Three: Brainstorm

  • Key Accomplishments & results-focused
  • Questions to ask yourself
    • What projects have you worked on?
    • What did you get reviewed on?
    • What did you get praised for?
    • What skills do you have that are valuable and want to highlight
    • Personal Brand – what do you want to be known for?

Step Four: Fill in what You already Have

  • Create the framework
  • Refine!

Step Five: Write Out Your Most Recent Experience

  • Use Action Verbs
  • What is the main idea?
  • What are your key accomplishments?
  • Use quantitative metrics as much as possible!
  • Refine!

Step Six: Fill It all in

  • Skills – use keywords on Job Description
  • Interests
  • Professional Profile – not objective statement
  • Ideally, keep it to 1-2 pages

I hope this is helpful as you go craft your killer resume! Message me on LinkedIn - what was your biggest takeaway?!

Remember – your resume is a celebration of your accomplishments!
