Prioritizing Things In Your Life
Katy says the first step to organizing and decluttering your home or office space is to assess your goals and what you want out of organizing. Eliminate things that don’t matter to you and be sure to clear out all the paper. Find systems that work for you and your life, whether it’s digitizing your paper clutter or having a place to put your keys when you come home or figuring out a way to fold your laundry to simply get it done, find what works for you.
Clean Desk, Clean Sink
One of the most common pieces of advice you will hear from organizers and cleaners is to always go to bed with a clean sink. This advice applies to your desk as well. Every night, set aside 5 minutes to clear off your desk (and your kitchen sink!) so that you can start fresh in the morning.
It’s Ok For Life To Be Imperfect
Katy has coined the phrase,
“Be at peace with the imperfection.”
It’s such a perfect quote because we are surrounded by what appears to be perfection, but in reality there’s no such thing. Choose what you want to focus on in your life and know that things will never be perfect and that is ok.
"If you’re not worrying about your space, if you’re not worrying about what clothes you’re going to wear every day...you’re going to have a better day, so if you can do that throughout your whole day, you can find exactly what you need in your office, imagine how much better your day’s gonna be."
