I’ve been putting “entrepreneurial spirit” on my resume since my very first draft back in college. At the time, I didn’t have any business to prove that interest/skill/hobby nor any grand project I was working on. But I’ve always had this part of me that craved creation. When I was a kid, I would write, direct and perform silly little plays or fake weddings or talk shows and make my family members watch (God bless ‘em). Heck, one of my favorite books growing up was an American Girl one titled, Moneymakers. Chasing the thrill of the sale at age 10. I was a weird kid.
So if you’ve been with me more than ten minutes, you probably know how passionate I am about entrepreneurism, startups and online businesses. If you are confiding in me that you hate your job, you’ve probably heard my first solution, “Hey, you should start a business!” (Or – Check out The Muse!!!) Over the past year, I think I’ve told 25-30 people they should start their own side hustles. I’ve even bought them domains as incentive to get the ball rolling (Tutu, I’m looking at you!).
While I want this space to be a platform discussing the intricacies of health, body image and faith, I’d also like to share my love affair with business. I’ve learned so many fun nuggets about creating a dream lifestyle, generating extra income (or a full income!) and have actually seen people do it themselves. They are locationally independent, make their own hours and are creating to their heart’s desire. The internet has drastically changed the way in which we do business and it’s allowing more people the opportunity to do work they love – in a lifestyle that isn’t dictated by someone else.
Maybe you have zero desire to start your own business. Or maybe you’ve been wanting to for ages but don’t know where to start. Or maybe you hadn’t given it a thought until just now. Wherever you fall on the spectrum, I can guarantee that in the posts to come there will be something that sparks your curiosity and may even cause you to act.
Watch out. I warned you.
I would love for this space to become a resource for women who want to be movers and shakers, who want to make a little extra (or a lot extra!) to give, save or use towards experiences, who want to bring their passions to life. If that’s you, I’m really excited to dialogue with you – to teach you what I’ve learned over the years.
I guess there is just something about people going after their passions that gets me excited. Their riskiness and faith and tenacity has always inspired me. We need more people like that in the world.
Because in my opinion, we were all created to create.
An Entrepreneurial Spirit
